He is such a sweet, nice man. For the tests and essay, he gives you a study guide of everything that will be on the test or essay. There's no other information that you need to study other than what's on the paper.

First of all, I'm not into history. But, Dr. Stefany made learning about it interesting. His exams were perfectly prepared and he gave us an exact study guide for what he was putting on the exam. The work is a normal amount and is completely do-able for each class period. I would definitely suggest him. He's an excellent professor!

Most of these other comments sum up the content of his class in terms of what gets graded (3 tests, paper, etc.). He now has a document analysis due once every week or two, but they are simple and really help prepare you for the test. Also if you miss one, you can hand in 2 the next time to make up for it. He gives you a study guide that has EVERYTHING you need to know for the test. His tests have a total of 4 or 5 extra-credit questions. Dr. Stefany is interesting, passionate about what he teaches, very helpful, and just an all-around nice guy. I took him my first semester here for WHII, left for a year, and he got me into his WHI course. He is a professor who really cares about his students, their success, and what he teaches. I would take him again in a heartbeat

I had Dr. Stefany last semester for World History 2 and even though I'm a history major, I did very well in it. His tests are rather easy and his "so-whats" definitely help in getting ready for the test. Of course, you have to read certain books (depending which class you have for) but they aren't too bad. I would definitely recommend him for either World History 1 or 2.

Dr. Stefany is great. You get a study guide for the exams, which are definitions, multiple choice, a map, and source documents. There are 3 exams, a book quiz, and a paper. If you get anything less than a b you aren't trying very hard. Pay close attention to his pre-lecture so whats, all the multiple choice questions come from those!

I had Dr. Stefany my first semester in college. I loved his class so much that I decided to take him in the spring. I received an A in both of my classes I had with him as a teacher. His tests are easy as long as you study the study guide he gives you. You have to read a book and write a paper. There are no assignments and only one quiz. I recommend you take him. His lectures do get kinda boring some times, but honestly most of the time I was very interested in what he was thinking and I hate history! He is the kind of teacher that doesnt give you a ton of assignments and stress! Take him if you want an easy class that you learn a ton of information in. :)

This guy is an awesome prof that makes History interesting. He hints in class about what will be on his tests. As long as you give a little bit of effort there is no way you will get a bad grade. There is a paper (start reading the books early).

He is one of the nicest professors! You can tell he really cares about seeing his students succeed and is passionate in what he teaches. Tests are decent and easy if you study and he even tells you what to study. We had to write a paper on a book we had to read which were easy reads. It's pretty hard to fail this class. He's an awesome professor and recommend him highly

Dr. Stefany is by far the best history teacher to walk the planet. I never was so interested in history until I took his MiddleEast class. His ability to teach me about Islam was flawless. I am so glad I took his class and I am planning to take him a few more times. He really cares about the students and if you take his class you truly will learn something.

Professor Stefany was a really great professor. He realized that none of us really wanted to learn about history, and he made it easy for us to pass. Unfortunately, I didn't retain any of the information. He lectures almost every class, and there are also discussion days. His tests involve a vocab. section, map section, essay section, and multiple choice section. Basically he gives you everything on the test. You could totally not pay attention in class and get a B on all his tests if you prepare. There are only 3 tests (one being the final that is not cumulative), a small quiz, and a paper.

I had Dr. Stefany for World History I. He was very nice. He made an outline for each of his lectures that you could print out before the lesson. His tests were all the same format. They were not hard, as long as you studied and listened in class. He doesn't give any assignments, except for a 5 page paper. I don't normally like history classes, but I actually learned something in his class and liked learning it. I seriously recommend you taking it. :)

He is an extremely nice professor. He cares deeply about what he teaches and is still a nice, funny guy at the same time. He has 3 tests and gives a study guide that is very helpful and also you write a paper that isn't even that bad and neither is the book you write it about. I'm taking him again for World History 2. I recommend him highly

 Alright here it is:
3 tests, section 1 (10 short answer)
. Section 2 (10 MC)
. Section 3 (map)
. Section 4 (document analysis) (easy)
2 papers (easy)
He's a little boring, but try's hard to be intersting, and a nice guy, I say take him.

Dr. Stefany is a very nice person and professor. He is really into what he teaches and youíll learn a lot even though itís a general ed class just because heís so enthusiastic. He has a scaled down grading scale so his major tests are only 20 points but you only have 100 points or so total in his class. Donít worry about that Ė if you do the work and readings youíll be fine. His tests arenít terribly hard but make sure you study. Going to class is also important!! Plus on days Dr. Stefany talks about Russia heíll speak some Russian for you since he lived there for a bit and wears a very funny hat. Iíd definitely take him for any other history class Iíd need

I have tried to come up with something that Dr. Stefany falls short in, and I came up blank. His class is worth 100 points. 3 tests worth 60% of your grade, 1 quiz/attendance worth 20% of your grade, 1 paper worth 20%. The final isn't cumulative it covers the material from the last quiz until the end of the semester. He gives you a study guide for the paper and a study guide for every test! His lecture outlines are on blackboard and I recommend printing them out with a section at the top for the so what. Before every lecture he gives the so what of the lecture, and that is where the majority of the multiple choice questions come from. This class is so easy, but you learn a lot. I liked him so much that I'm taking him again for World History 2. Take Stefany it will be the best choice you could make!

Dr. Stefany was a really great professor. History is one of my least favorite subjects but I actually liked his class. The "So-What's" of his lectures are the most important thing so pay attention to them! They are very useful when the final roles around. The quizzes were not hard at all. If you show up to class and pay attention, you should do fine. Let's put it this way...I tried to get into his World History II class. I didn't get in. I am still pissed. :(

Show up and do the work, study five minutes before the quiz and you'll be fine. Most of the notes are irrelevant, just pay attention to the "So What's" of the lectures and you'll be fine!

A lot of notetaking but still a fairly easy class as long as you put some effort into studying. The only bad thing is his exams are a bit tough.

Prof Stefany is a great guy... the class is based upon 5 grades, participation, you get 3 unexcused absences, there is one 5 point quiz every week, very easy multiple choice. A midterm which is mostly essay but if you prepare its simple. You get a 3X5 card to put your thoughts on. An in-class essay that if you prepare for is easy if you write the right things on the 3X5 card. And a final which isn't bad at all. So if you show up to class, study 5 min before the quizzes and prepare for the tests you will do fine. Nice guys as well, he means well.

Subject: A Real Stickler/Tool For Dates!  (Mar 23 2009, 05:23PM)
Student: Anonymous ()
Class:World History II (A-)
12 of 37 students found this review helpful.

First off, the entire class is based off of a small total of 100 pts. You have 3 exams at 20 pts each. You have a book quiz at 10 pts. You have class participation/attendance at 10 pts. You finally have a 4 to 5 page paper on the comparison of Night and One Day at 20 pts. If you do not put the exact date on each question on the exam, you get no points for that question at all no matter how much correct information you give in the short answer parts of the test. He takes attendance everyday and even when he had his second kid, he still made you go to class with a grad assistant teaching. Sadly to say, this is the easiest professor in the History Department. Does not say much, but, knowing ahead of time what he expects and the slim amount of total points this class is worth, I would still take him over again if I had to. If I had to sum his classes up in one word, it would be "specifics."
