I have to start off by talking about her attendance policy. It was something like you get 3 unexcused absences but you start losing points after that. After 14 unexcused and 3 excused absences, we talked and she decided not to count them against me. That's not a typo, 14 unexcused and 3 excused absences (it was an 8 am class though, comeaaan). She is a very nice lady, very intelligent, and relays the information through pretty interesting lectures. Her tests are easy as long as you pay some attention and review your notes. She lets you make up quizzes (I made up 3 at one time after class one day). Needless to say, I was about the most awful student my first semester, and I still pulled off a B- in her class when I would have failed with any other professor. Great lady, definitely recommend her.

She is a great professor. My favorite by far here at SHIP. Gives online quizzes and some on paper. Tests are easy, just read the notes. Group presentation is fun and interesting. It's hard to get a bad grade. Take Her!!

Subject: Marty Dillon for an easy A  (Mar 24 2008, 08:36AM)

Dr. Dillon is a sweet prof. She gives tons of extra credit, her tests come straight from the notes, and they are multiple choice -- very easy. She gives a daily lecture using power points (very boring, she does have a self-righteous monotone voice but you get used to it), and you can get the powerpoints off blackboard. Also, you have online quizzes to take, and those are easy to get 100%s on. Overall great prof, it you get any less than a B+ you have no one to blame but yourself.

I'm surprised there's no negative comments for this professor yet. Then again she hasn't been around for a while and she's only a part-time teacher. Some good points about her would be that she's really easy and is motherly and fair with her grading. However...you learn NOTHING in this class. If you want to waste your money go right on ahead and take her. If you're a hard working student looking for a challenging class then don't even bother. She doesn't know what she's talking about, I could teach a more in-depth class than her. To ace her class, basically just suck up to her and tell her about your traumatizing experiences as a child, even if you didn't have any. She'll love you. As much as I respect her experiences she doesn't shut up about her life, and honestly she told us things that were MAJORLY TMI. I didn't feel comfortable in her class at all...she literally said one day while talking about birth and development "How can you NOT think God made humanity?" Now, I respect Christianity but that's a bit out of line, I don't advocate a teacher being completely biased and shoving any sort of religion in our faces. Instead of talking about psychology she would talk about the physical aspects of children and even thought it was important to teach us about men's pubic hair. I felt like she was utilizing us more as a therapy group to discuss her past and ignoring the fact that she was...you know, a PROFESSOR. If I had talked to her for 30 minutes out of my life, that would have been enough for me. Now, an hour and a half two times a week. I could hardly bear it.
