Dr. Leonard is a great professor! He only teaches about 2 classes a semester because he's an adjunct but he puts just as much work into the class as he does with all of his other classes at Shennandoah (where he's a full-time professor). The case studies were fun, he picks really interesting topics dealing with security and international law. If you like this kind of stuff, definitely take him, it's worth it!

Eric is an amazing instructor. He is always engaging the class through case studies. No multiple choice exams, they are all essay and take home. Not an easy A, but if you work at it, he will do his best to give you the grade. Rarely if ever gives Grades below a C, he likes it when his students participate and succeed. My 4th class with him, I've never gotten below a B+. Please do take, he may be an adjunct... but he is Awesome and worth your tuition dollars.

Sure Dr. Leonard is interesting if you can understand what the hell he's talking about. I came to EVERY single class. I spent hours on tests and essays. He never had any nice comments. If you do not keep up to date background knowledge of every major world history event within the last century, you're screwed. And god forbid you aren't in LOVE with his subject. If you can't keep up with what he's saying, and his 36-page long articles, you will not be able to pass the class. Other professors make comments about how he teaches his class different then they do. He takes an entirely too serious and advanced approach for students in a 100 level gen. ed. class. good luck.

His class kept me interested because we related the ideas/theories we learned to real life situations. He's a very good prof and you can tell he likes what he is doing and is very into the subject and is updated on the latest news in his field. Attendance isnt required. You really don't ever need to read the text book, just the case studies only as long as you come to class and take the few notes there are. There aren't any "actual sit down in class and take a tests", more like PAPERS. So if you despise writing, I don't advise you to take it. We had 4 case studies (1-2 pages) and 2 exams (5-8 pages) and the final (4-10). But overall very nice guy, I'd take him again if I had the chance.

Eric Leonard is by far an awesome professor. This will is my second semester with him and I don't regret it at all. My grade is slightly lower here than in his previous class but thats only because Int'l Politics is more 'Theory' based. The Content is difficult dont get me wrong, and this is my major. However, all of his exams are Essay. He goes out of his way to give you the highest grade possible. I got some B's on essays that were C- material. You will never see a multiple choice exam, and most exams are take home. There is a lot of in-class discussion which combined with your daily writing make 20% of your grade. He is awesome, take him if you get a chance. You will not leave he class with a grade lower than a C. It's impossible. MONEY WELL SPENT!

In Dr. Leonard's Intro to politics class he focuses on the different theories which apply to international politics. Although the course material is difficult, his knowledge and expertise make him an extremely effective teacher. You will have to do some work for this class- four essays (including a midterm and final). However, I guarantee that if you take this class you will walk away a better student and a better citizen. I can better explain and understand the world around me as a result of taking Dr. Leonard's class. He is the best teacher I have had so far at Ship and I'm a junior.

He is by far my favorite teacher. His tests are mostly essay, which take some time... but he's opposed to multiple choice tests. On tests he tries to give you as many points as possible (and he goes out of his way to bump your grade up). He works at Shenandoah so he often starts class a half an hour late which is really nice. This class can be hard for people who are not majors but he really knows what he's talking about and is always available to help. I'm so impressed that I'm taking my next level class with him. If you have the opportunity to take him... DO IT! Wisest choice you'll make in your life.

He teaches at Shenandoah University in VA but he comes to Ship just to teach this class. He only teaches it to one class. He doesn't take attendance so I never went. You grade is compiled from 4 papers. The midterm and final are both take home essays(4-6 pages) and the other two papers are case papers. That is when you read something this chapter out of his case book and write a 3-5 page essay on it(you have to do 2 of those). You do have to go to class the last 5 classes because he reviews the case studies and he gives points for being there. Overall, I got a B and I only saw him 6 times all semester........that's easy

Dr. Leonard is a good guy. Seriously, you will not find a better professor when it comes to political philosophy. He asks all the right questions, and can easily change your views over certain philosophers. Tests were all take home, and if you indulge yourself in this Socratic seminar, you are nearly as amazing as Plato's "Philosopher-King." But be warned, my mighty "Philosopher-Kings:" he will know who was reading and who wasn't. If you show up, at least enter the realm of Enlightenment by participating in a scholarly discussion of the greatest dead guys that changed the way of government. I learned more in his class than I did in any political literature/history class, and it was only an elective! Seriously--take this guy, show up and talk, and answer all parts of his take home exams to the best of your ability. Spell out everything--such as defining terms--by making it as lucid as possible. Otherwise, embrace the power of Eric Leonard! Why is he not full time faculty here at Shippensburg?
