Excellent Professor; if you want to do well in the business world, take his class. I learned more in one semester than the rest of my four years.

First, the only good thing I have to say about Cole's class is that, for the most part, he lets class out at least 20 minutes early. During class however, he talks about anything and everything but strategic mgt! The only reason why I didn't skip all the time is because he gives a bunch of random & pointless quizzes (which dont even matter in the end). He gives 3 exams in which you read the entire textbook, yet he never goes over anything in the book at all. I never thought I would say this but I would have rather taken a professor who read straight off powerpoint slides - at least I would have learned SOMETHING. Also, no matter how good you do on those 3 exams, the grade you get on your project seems to be the grade he gives you for the class. And beware of crappy group members. My group sucked. I felt like the team mother most of the time. His class sucked. STAY AWAY.

In strategic management, I learned nothing about strategy and nothing about management. I was looking forward to this course too. I wish I could have saved my money and not taken this course, but I was forced to. This sucks

This man is a whack job. All he talks about is hating technology and how he never uses it but is forced to. The case studies are pointless and he asks such in depth questions at the end of your presentation that you almost have to have started that company to answer his questions. He randomly chooses the group into 6 teams, 5 easy topics (XBox, Starbucks, Panera Bread, Ford, and Walmart) and one group gets screwed with something like Zara Fashion (wtf mate?) If you can avoid him and Francis, then do so, but it's almost inevitable. My roommate and I discussed and it does seem like cole is better only because he'll give you a B if you go to class and speak well on your presentation.

Easily the worst professor I had in 4 years at ship. The class has no structure and he is more concerned about somebody's name then what they have to say. His lectures are the same pointless stories every class. He also talks about microsoft and computers like he is an expert when in reality 90% of what he says in wrong. Basically, a computer moron and out of touch with reality. The class is basically based on a presentation and paper, which you never get your grade for. Yup, thats right. We did a 35 minute presentation and 2 papers and he never gave grades for any of them. He even had a TA show up to hand out his 8 am final exam. Tests and quizzes are pointless. Dont study or worry because the grade you get doesnt matter. I got a 96% on the test and my buddy got a 64% and we both ended up with a B in the class. Just hand everything in and dont expect to learn anything.

This guy does nothing but ramble during lectures, his tests and quizzes are mad stupid and make no sense. Then there's that dumb ass game. God help you if you get stuck in a group with a bunch of morons like I did. It sucks b/c this game counts for alot of your grade. If you take this guy and your group has more than one dumb marketing major do yourself a favor and withdraw or jump out of the window.

I totally disagree with the other comment here about Dr. Cole. I learned nothing in his class, he doesn't even teach lessons. He rambles on and on in class, rarely talking about relevant subject matter. The strategy game and the projects is where you earn your grade in this class, and you have to teach yourself how it all works. He is also very picky about minor things such as spelling, and names of other class members. Beware, I would advise not taking this professor!!!

Dr. Cole is full of opinions, some justified, most are not. He's a terrible teacher, good person, and the actual class work is helpful. Class presentation, group work, and unorganized style are very helpful for recent grads in real-life scenarios.

Dr. Cole's classes are boring to say the least, many times you'll find yourself asking why you came. You are pretty much guaranteed a B or C. If you go talk to him and let him know you are interested at his office hours though, no matter how well you do on the tests and the BSG you will get a B. He is great to talk to out of class, quizes and tests don't matter at all.

Don't by the book! "The Business Strategy Game" is saved on the Shippensburg S Drive(S:\BUSINESS\PUBLIC\GSCole\BSG7-2). You are able to print on both sides of the paper so it will look like a book (duplex printing). As for the CD, you don't need it. All the comp lab computers have the program instaled. If you are anal and do need it, then burn a copy of it from someone else or even the teacher. If the file is not on the S Drive anymore email me at kk4556@email.com

"He's OK" and "Not worthwhile" are right on. Cole is boring and he jabbers about bullcrap. But the nap time is great and the work isnt too terrible. There are 2 exams and it was the same exam - once before you get into the game and once after its all over. Its a pretty easy class and once in awhile he'll entertain you with a good story.

This class is so boring! But Dr. Cole usually lets class out early. 2 exams are really tough. You'll have to memorize a 100 page book. He asks the stupidest questions too from the book. You play a Business Strategy Game with a group of 4 other people. Quizzes once a week. You'll also do a group project about the strategies companies use. That's a LOT of work! But if you get to know Dr. Cole and talk to him after class or during office hours, you'll be alright. Just don't expect to learn too much along the way.
