Wow, this professor was probably the most horrific teacher EVER. He seems to make his job not about teaching his students but instead trying to fit as many $10 SAT words into his lectures as possible. During his lecture he shows pictures of random art and pottery that rarely have anything to do with what we were learning about. His lectures in the end made almost no sense... on occasion there was an interesting tidbit but that almost never happened. Some of his homework assignments were 100% ridiculous! He made me absolutely hate history. Avoid this man at all costs!

I'm not surprised to see that the got all bad comments. This guy was INSANE. Probably one of the most arrogant teachers I have ever met in my life. He's rude- locked me out on my first day because I was 2 minutes late. Yells at kids in the class if they try to open the door (he says that his authority). NEVER MAKES SENSE! Usually hard words for everything. A midterm and a final, both which are impossible. Plus homework assignments that he says on the paper that it will take 5 or 6 hours. WHO DOES THAT? I got a B because I worked my ass off, but I hated him. And I hated that class. I dreaded it everyday. Seriously, DO NOT TAKE HIM! Worst teacher by far. []

He is the worst teacher I think I've ever had. He stands in front of the class and lectures the whole time. And when he teaches he uses uncommon words like he feels he needs to impress everyone with how many big words he uses per class period. He only gives you a midterm and a final plus a few really hard in depth homework assignments that can take up to 3 hrs to finish. Honestly read everyone's reviews on him and take it to heart. He was by far the worst and most boring and complicated teacher I have ever had.

I am a history major and happen to love the subject of Mexico and Central America. HE MANAGED TO MAKE IT BORING AND MIND NUMBINGLY PAINFUL. The reading load was not actually that bad considering an upper level course in history, but the man is annoyingly unorganized as the weeks go by. Though I do hear his entry level courses are easy because he doesn't care about them -- he is still beyond boring and the smart-ass remarks are many and completely unneeded...and before I go on an hour rant...don't take him unless you are a non-major stuck in his entry-level course.

WOW. I hated this class! I love history but this professor was a joke! He was rude to everyone and yelled at people for dumb reasons. His assignments were hard and didn't make sense half the time. He was trying so hard to come off as a smart teacher, that you ended up needing a thesaurus to translate what he was trying to say. When assigning group work he never gave us an idea of what he wanted done. My group actually emailed him asking for some specifics and he told us that his office hours were over, and he wished us the best of luck. ... SERIOUSLY? This is guy is not only an ass but can not teach for the life of him. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Trust me.

Morris is a horrible prof. He is so boring and shows you pictures for the whole class. He rambles on and on about subjects you are not learning about. When a student asks questions he looks at them like they are retarded. Every friday he has a group teach the class. You learn more from the kids then you do from him. He makes you do homeworks that suck and are really long. You have to do essays which aren't too bad. The final exam is horrible... he gives you 120 vocab terms that you have to match. They are grouped into about 40 words in each section. At the end you have 4 short answers. So basically the final is impossible. DO NOT TAKE MORRIS! You learn nothing and come out of that class hating history.

Showing me pictures of pottery is not an effective way to teach me about history. Also I don't consider a review to be "You ask the questions I'll answer and if you have nothing I really want to watch this french film with my 5 year old son". His form of help is pretty much do it yourself... I have better things to do, like play in the snow. Really not a good teacher, but on the bright side an easy grader.

Subject: Worst Teacher/Bizzare Confusion  (Dec 05 2008, 04:43PM)

Prof. Morris is unbelievable! He obviously doesn't know how to teach a class judging by everyone's confusion in the class. The class is very badly structured due to the lack of quizzes that should be given so that students understand what material will be crucial to know. There are several essays that he asks you to write which are so general, that even when asking him what he's looking for, the students are still confused. His lectures consist of mostly pics that most of the time have really nothing to do with the important info. If he doesn't feel like teaching a topic he either lets the class groups do it or he just puts in a meaningless movie. Not sure what the point was of the class, but don't take him if you wanna actually get your money's worth of reliable/structured info.

Dr. Morris is quite possibly the worst teacher I've had ever in my almost-14 years of school. The classes consist of a bunch of lectures; constant skipping around (talking about 10th century Africa one minute and then talking about Ancient Mesoamerica the next). His powerpoints don't supplement much for the class at all; it's merely a collection of pictures, probably for his own entertainment more than our benefit. And the books he puts on his required list? You don't even open them at all throughout the semester until you need to write the final analytical essay (which I didn't even use the book on anyway). He never discusses the assignments that are required; we're just expected to know it. When 6 other students and I did our group project for the semester, we were told one thing. But then after going to Morris and asking for some assistance and clarification, we were told to "Get out because I'm feeling very ill". 24 hours before the project was due, he emailed us, telling us what to do...and COMPLETELY changing the subject. Needless to say, that confirmed my belief that this class was a joke. I learned nothing and my normally high B-low A history grades have dropped to a C at best.

Subject: is this a joke, SU?  (Dec 03 2008, 09:58PM)

This guy is absolutely ridiculous. He'll speak for 45 minutes, and then realize at the end of class that we still haven't even reached the topic for the day. He doesn't really care about the student's opinions, or if you succeed in the class. He made us do group presentations where we basically taught the class for the day. This would be fine if he gave us ANY sort of guidance at all. My group e-mailed him, and he basically responded with "I can't be bothered with this, good luck on your presentation." UH, WHAT?! Seriously, if you can take this class with another professor, I suggest you do so. I feel I've learned absolutely nothing from being in his class.

Do not take this class or any other class that this professor teaches, he has no clue what he is doing. He is really weird and makes no sense in his lectures, all he does is show us pictures for three hours! So boring, he didn't even know how to work the wiki tool and had us figure it out, he really should not be teaching, stupid SU!

The final he gives is ridiculous... 120 questions of matching but it's only 10 percent of your final grade. He takes attendance but you can just get someone to sign your name for you because you will learn absolutely nothing in class. His class is not hard though I thought about taking him again... but wisely did not.
