Like the title says, she's OK. I liked her personality and she was funny in class. However, her opinion is fact and all those who disagree are wrong.

She was a good teacher for the 5 weeks I had her in the ASP program. She will try her best to make sure you will get good grade on her test. Also she makes her class interesting so you enjoy learning the topic.

Dr. Cornelius is a really great teacher. Her assignments are pretty easy and really interesting. There aren't tests and I think you can miss 2 classes? You have to attend an Art of Being and there is lots of extra credit offered by even watching movies like "Boy's Don't Cry" and writing about it's importance. It's an easy and interesting class.

wow... Dr. Cornelius was one of the most interesting and easiest teachers I could have ever asked for. Her classes are very easy... no tests, no quizzes, no finals, no midterms, no homework...just 3-4 assignments that are fun to do and really easy. If you want to have a great sociology experience take her. She lets you hand things in late, or if you forgot it and can get it to her by that day no points are taken off. She does have a attendance policy but its really not that bad. She doesn't really care about it. But if you are looking for a easy nice prof... take her!!

This class was the easiest class I had this semester. There were NO exams and the assignments she gave instead were REALLY easy, but interesting too. She really wants you to learn the material and she spends alot of class time covering current events. The subject matter isn't always the most comfortable, but it'll force you to think in a whole new way. I've heard that Alvarez is the person to take for Intro To Soc, but I have to say I'm pretty glad I took Cornelius instead. She gives extra credit in the form of reaction papers to events, like the Art of Beings. I don't know how much actual "sociology lingo" I'll remember from this class, but I look at everything in a whole different perspective now. This class is NOT for the close minded.

I had her for intro to soc. and she is an amazing prof. She connects things in class with current events going on. She changed her style of the class this semester (fall 06)... instead of exams and quizzes she used short assignments (not papers). The assignments incorp the things with what is being discussed in class. Anyone who can take her do it.

She's really not difficult at all. We didn't have any exams this term and so everything was straight out of the book or straight out of the information she gives you. You spend alot of time talking about current events, and she gives up to 10 points of extra credit (which helps alot). She truly does want you to understand the material...

This was a very interesting class. I definitely learned to look at some things in a different way. However, I did not feel like any certain opinions were forced on me. Dr. Cornelius is very nice and her projects and tests are not hard at all. She does give some extra credit too, which helped my grade a lot. A bunch of classes were cancelled...which was nice. I definitely recommend taking Cornelius. You will learn something.

Dr. Cornelius was a great prof. She rarely kept us the whole class and she gave study guides for each exam. Make sure u do well on the exams cause there is nothing else to base your grade on. You have fun with her lectures, and her projects go towards your test grade. Some quesions are tricky, and the textbook is mostly a waste. Take her to get an easy grade!

i enjoyed her class because she made it actually seem interesting. her class actually caused me to decide to change my major to sociology. the deviance project was really fun, and it counts for a big part of an exam grade. her tests are all multiple choice, she sends out a study guide, and mostly everything in the notes is on the test, you don't even really have to read the book. i would definitely recommend her to everyone! the semester's not over yet, but i'm looking at a B overall...

dr. cornelius's class may be a piece of cake, but you do actually learn something. you really don't need to read the book, although if you're like me and need an extra explanation sometimes, it may be helpful. the ore book however is important. stuff from there shows up on the exams. the whole grade is like 4/5 exams which are all multiple choice and takes you about 20-30 min to finish. you do a deviance project which is kinda a pain if you're not creative but can be fun. she grades it pretty easy too. she does remind me of an elementary school teacher, but its so much better than these brain-fried profs. she's a real person and it comes out in her lectures. she knows her stuff and is always willing to help you or re-explain if you need it....overall, a great prof. take if you can!!

an effective professor. If you can get past her liberal bias, the course is quite enjoyable. You watch several videos, many of which are entertaining. You get extra credit it for attending the annual on-campus drag show, and for watching movies that she selects.

Dr. Corneilus was by far one of the best teachers I've ever had in my life. She makes you think about the emperical evidence as opposed to what is heard all the time. In her class you forget about race and think about ethnicity. You forget about poverty and look at the bright side of things. You learn to look at statistics as opposed to what your friend told you yesterday. I suggest her class to all and also would consider taking sociology as a major if you want to make a change in the world. My hats off to her and her class.

She is very nice and her class is easy. Its all lectures, no pop quizzes or assignments of any kind. Plenty of opportunities for extra credit. You'll watch movies and your opinions are always heard and respected no matter what they are. She tries her hardest to act young to relate to her students. Take this prof for Soc 101 to get that gen Ed out of the way.

If you have the chance to take her you should!! She is a good teacher and makes the class interesting. You take notes or whatch a movie. She is always willing to help you if you need help and she gives lots of chances for extra credit. She does take attendence but she allows you to skip 3 times, no questions asked. Test are not bad, right from the notes and she always gives you a study guide. You have a few take home projects to do but they don't take much time and help your grade. Take her if you get a chnace!!!

Dr. Cornelius has obviously changed her teaching styles since being rated. She gives you several exams which are impossible to study for. She tells you specifically "I wont ask that question" then rephrases it 6 different times on exams. She flipped out on a kid in class several times and flat out told him to leave. Worst professor ever!

This is one of the most irritating classes I have wasted my money on. This class is supposed to be fun and should learn a lot of information. Instead she wasted my time every class talking about her liberal agenda. If anyone disagreed with her, she would get very angry and flustered. So much she said well if I was believing in that (referring to what the student stated against her belief) then I might as well believe in UNICORNS! She is very unprofessional and honestly does not teach you anything except for what she believes in. Also, half of the things she talks about is not even accurate. Take her if you want an easy A because her class was a joke.

She was an awful professor. She lost a test of mine. Although it would sound fun to watch movies in every class, she never talked about them, so when test time came around we were in the dark about the sociological parts of the movie. She is completely sexist, always pointing out the feminist point of view without showing the other sides. Overall she is a terrible prof., but if you're a soc. major you have to take her eventually.

Ok, so cornelius pretends to be nice and knowledgeable.. but shes a complete idiot. I had her for a night class, and she keeps you until the last second possible, so I wouldnt recommend a night class.. and all we ever did was watch movies. The most awful, boring, plot-lacking movies you will ever see in your life. Then, after a nice, looooong 2 hour movie.. its time to DISCUSS the damn thing. Do NOT take her, she is terrible and does NOT teach. Oh, and you have to read every single reading (about 100 pages a week) to do well on the exams.. which consist of 3 essays. STAY AWAY FROM CORNELIUS!

Cornelius has an inane class structure where the students are pretty much supposed to teach themselves and form a social movement organization. She truly expects the issue to have salience with the entire class, Sigh. Anyways, she became petulant that nobody was participating, and more than half the class failed miserably on the midterm (she lectured 4 classes the entire first half of the semester). So she changed the syllabus, and remarked to us on how bad of a class we were. She has a midterm, final, 10 journal entries (due at the end of the semester) and a paper (end of semester) So 75% of the grade is in the last 3 weeks of the semester. By the way, if you are at all conservative or moderate and don't agree w/ socialism or communism, you will be frustrated at about everything she says... Horrible. I thank god every day that I am not a damn Sociology Major

I think Cornelius is a nice enough lady and her class is SOOOO ridiculously easy.. but something about her is just "irritating". I cant even explain it but I absolutely hated going to her class. She talks to the class like we're in elementary school.. she definitely presents herself in a way that makes her think shes is the SMARTEST and BEST prof. at Ship. She talks down about other people all the time. She's also called people out a few times for NO reason at all. She tries to act so nice and will start joking around w/ the class.. but then if someone tries to joke back or say something stupid she'll make them look like an idiot. The things she does in class are so basic and annoying that I prob. could have NEVER gone to class, took the tests and gotten at least a B(but attendance is REQUIRED). Yet she talks real slow, gives a million examples, and offers tons of extra credit like as if "SHIP" students need that extra help. She's always talking about how "SHIP" students aren't as good when compared to other schools. Well maybe if she's as smart as she thinks she is, she should go teach somewhere else. I do recommend her because she is so easy, but if you want to be challenged or actually LEARN about sociology(i mean those things that you DIDNT know in 6th grade), then I would suggest you take someone else. Oh and ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY DO NOT BUY THE BOOK. You might want to get the Ore book b/c she assigns a few short readings that may be on the test.. but I never opened the actual text book once. Her tests come 100% from the notes so dont waste your money.
