Dr Pierce is one of my favorite professors. I had her for History 105 and I'm taking her again for 106. Its hard to do bad in her class because her assignments are easy and she's a really easy grader. She's always there to help and is all around an amazing professor. Fit her in your schedule. She isn't hard at all, she gives a lot of reading because she is required to. I barely ever did them and I got a good grade in the class. TAKE HER!

She normally lectures everyday and occasionally we did something else in class. For instance, we would debate on an assigned topic or take a quiz/test. Altogether though, she is a very good teacher, she is very nice and I learned a lot from her class. She expects the homework/reading to be done for every class, and I would highly recommend doing it. Even though it seems like a lot, other teachers give a lot more homework than she does. I would definitely recommend Dr. Pierce.

Dr. Pierce is my favorite professor and, by far, the best professor on campus. I've always hated history!...Couldn't stand it at all and could care less about the class. This all changed when I had Dr. Pierce for history. She made it very interesting and fun for everyone. Another thing is that she is ALWAYS around so if you ever need help you know you can always go to her office. She always encourages students to go to her office hours because she wants to help them if they need it. She's always there for her students and has such passion about history. Also, she would post her lecture outlines online to print out so it would be easier for you to take notes in class. She also gives unannounced quizzes on primary sources, but they are open book. So if you do the prep questions, you can use them on the quizzes...which is where she gets her questions from. There are two exams which are just identifying terms, which wasn't bad at all. The best part of both history 105 and 106 is that we got to do a debate. It was pretty fun. Definitely take Dr. Pierce for history 105 or 106. You wont regret it!!!!

Dr. Pierce is probably one of the best professors I've ever had. I really don't have much interest in history at all and she actually made it very interesting and easy to follow the events. She is very helpful and willing to answer any questions, plus she has office hours everyday. She gives you reading to do before every class and prep questions, you don't have to do them, but I would highly recommend it. It helps you understand what you're talking about in class so much easier and if you answer questions out loud during class you get easy participation points, also she will occasionally quiz you on prep questions and the textbook reading. She has 2 exams, 1 mid term and 1 final, both written, but if you complete study guides you should do very well on them and you have 2 smaller books to read. One of the books half the class will be quizzed on and the other half writes and analysis paper, and then the next book she switches roles of who takes what. She is very kind and cares a lot about her students and their success. I highly recommend taking her for World History 2/ HIS106 !!

Dr. Pierce is a very intelligent women and she is super nice. The only problem is she expects a lot from her classes regarding class participation. She also makes you print out a ridiculous amount of paper for each class. There are random quizzes but they are typically open book. Everything else that you turn in is an easy grade. Some of it such as the book analysis and debates take up time, but she is a fairly easier grader. What I like most about her class is that her midterm and final seem to be a lot easier than other history courses. She gives you a list of about 30 people/places/objects and then 15 will be an option on the test and you pick 4 I believe. It is easier then it sounds because of bunch of them are related. Take this professor if you have the opportunity.

Subject: good prof with a few drawbacks  (Jan 18 2011, 10:34AM)

Good professor who has conveyed the information relatively well. also a workload which was reasonable. The only problems I had were sometimes she would talk too much about certain topics so we would not cover as much info as I would have hoped. Also sometimes she throws a fit if no one answers her question and gives pop quizzes if no one gives her an answer. And even when we did give her good answers most of the time they were not good enough and she would give us even more answers that we did not give to her. Like I said good class with a good professor but if she would have taught more instead of complaining then I would have rated higher.

She required a good deal of homework because we had a set of questions due every class. She also had a lot of pop quizzes that weren't great but they aren't worth many points. Otherwise I learned a lot in her class and she made the material interesting.

I loved Dr. Peirce. She actually got me interested in history. She is really nice and knows what she is talking about. The workload is average and her tests are identifying terms. I took her for both World History 1 and 2. I loved her. I would definitely suggest taking her!

This class is pointless. She gave us at least 2 hours of work per night. The readings were impossible to understand. I you want a stuck up professor who doesn't make class fun take her.

I found Dr. Pierce a very difficult professor. All of her exams are essays. She takes serious attendance. Gives pop quizzes on the daily readings she assigns each night( about 1-2hours of reading a night). If you hate reading 1-2hours every night don't take her. If you like to read then go for it. Overall I decided not to take her again for world history 2 due to her work load, difficult grading, and pop quizzes which really brought my grade down. I passed this class with a D.
