Dr. Papero is a wonderful teacher. She has experience in all of the grade levels, was the director of a school (or a day care?), and shares her experience in her classes. She doesn't use a powerpoint and encourages students to give feedback. A normal week in her class involves doing the readings, responding to a discussion board (every week) by the night before your first class of the week, then when you walk into class she writes a question based on the reading on the board, and that is the discussion for the first part of class. She is great about answering questions and, like I said before, has a lot of experience to draw on professionally as well as her experience as a single mother of two. I'm in her Early Literacy class now, and the set up is exactly the same except that there are two book shares, two shared lesson plans, one essay, and two quizzes (easy and based off of what you were given in class); in Profession, you have some observation assignments in your placement. The discussion boards are easy to get the points for, and she drops the three lowest at the end of the semester. Overall, she is patient, recognizes what is important for you to know as an early childhood educator, and really knows what she's talking about. Some people think the reading is too hard and don't like her voice, but the readings are relevant and useful, and I never have cared either way about how her voice sounds (and it shouldn't matter anyhow).

Papero is a great teacher. Her class is lecture, but you also do some little writing activities with peers. She explains a lot, and will take any and all questions. She is very helpful to you when you dont understand. She is very cute, a mom, and has adorable children. In her class, you do need to do a couple observation/case studies, BUT if you follow the directions/rubric for them you'll do fine, she grades nicely, and provides comments. You have an online quiz each week from a new chapter, BUT you have one whole hour for 10 questions. So you dont really need to read before taking it. (Although you should). Also, at the end of the year, shell take away your two worst quiz grades, so you can actually miss two and be okay! It is over half the semester, and we have not taken a test, I believe the final will be cake!
