Subject: Read if thinking of taking him  (Dec 10 2013, 10:02AM)

This class is already very dry. He tries to make it comical and is very laid back. He gives quizzes once a week and gives you a ton of opportunities for extra credit. Instead of major tests he gives you four things to read. The only book I would buy from him would be the Atlas and the others you don't need to read from regardless of what he says. He allows you to turn in late work which not many professors do. This dude is a cool dude and you have to be a moron to fail his class.

Gallo is a great guy! he kind of gets a little boring at times, but he really knows what he is talking about. He assigns a lot of reading but makes up for it with a really simple grading policy. He gives 5 2 page papers and weekly quizzes it really isn't bad at all plus he is a really easy grader and your grade really reflects the time you put into it, and in all honesty its not a lot of time at all!TAKE HIM!

Dr Gallo did an excellent job with a dry subject that I am not very interested in. Dr Gallo may not be a stand-up comic but I do not attend college to be entertained. I attend college to learn and I learned a lot about history (and writing and critical thinking) from Dr Gallo. If you want an easy teacher, go back to high school. If you desire an education, Dr Gallo is an excellent choice.

I had him for an 8am, my first semester here. Is he extremely funny and silly? No. But is he nice? Of course! He's a much quieter kind of person, who may make a witty comment once and a while. He doesn't goof off or anything, which a lot of people think means he's boring. But he's honestly not. Although I hated the articles you had to print out, just read them. They really aren't difficult (long, yes, but not difficult, and honestly, you just have to skim most parts). As long as you put in some effort to engage in class, you'll be fine. If you just sit there and expect other kids to answer all the questions, you may hate the class (especially if it's 8am). But if you just speak up, he'll really come to like you. I wouldn't say he's one of the best professors I've had here, but he's certainly not one of the bad ones, either.

I had professor Gallo for World History I. As if history wasn't already boring...having it at 8am made it even more terrible to sit through. Prof. Gallo did not make learning history easy. He lectures everyday. You have 2 books to read from and about 6 billion page articles to print and read. You have a quiz based on your readings everyday. Which helps because it gives you a lot of grades (if you know what you're doing). Then he drops the two lowest scores in each category. The midterm is horrible. It's an essay and he gives you 3 topics but doesn't tell you which one he's choosing, and for the final another essay which he gives you 5 topics. Overall his class wasn't too hard but just be ready to read A LOT and be bored out of your mind. He is a very dry professor...no jokes or smiles EVER.

The material is dry to begin with, so it's not really his fault the class is so boring. It's awful. He wants to teach but he needs to realize we all aren't as into history as he is. He expects us to have read the material but no one does. We had to do 5 short papers on articles that are really long and hard to articulate. There is also a short 10 pt quiz every class so attendance is a must
