Unless you are very good at teaching yourself with a text book, do not take Hurley. He is not a good lecturer, he is very unorganized, and he doesn't seem to care about his students, or the class in general. Hurley doesn't even write his own exam questions. The class is not easy with Hurley. Though, on the plus side, he curves his exams and midterm grades. He said during class, "I noticed no one in my class had an A for midterms, so I curved everyone's midterm grade one letter grade so I could get some A's.. Attendance does count.

Dr. Hurley is a nice professor at the end of the day. He has his funny moments, and lets the class out early every so often. He also tends to curve all the test BUT... that's because EVERYONE does so poorly on them. Overall, as a professor, he is not worth your money and time. He doesn't have a teacher's bone in him, and doesn't understand how to project his knowledge in a way where his students will understand. The lecture is mostly oral with him mumbling to the chalkboard, scribbling up some notes that really don't concisely come together. He tests on material that most of the class doesn't remember going over. Oh, and there's a quiz every Wednesday on things that don't make any sense. Just... do yourself a favor and avoid Dr. Hurley. Nice guy, but not worth taking a class with.

This dude is essentially oblivious. He's a really, really nice guy & he means well but he doesn't comprehend that this is a gen ed and therefore we have essentially no basis in chemistry or science. His syllabus is the vaguest thing ever & you have no idea what you're doing when you walk into class or what chapters to have read for when. He talks into his chalkboard, which he never cleans, and his explanations have a lot of room for improvement. Basically this is a crash course in confusion.
