I highly enjoyed this class! Professor Smith was a bit odd, but she really cared about her students! She puts a lot into the class, although there is not much work aside from the assigned reading and take home essays! As long as you do your readings you will do fine in the class!

Dr. Smith is a great professor. She does a lot for her classes, and she expects the same devotion from her students. As far as an English class is concerned, she does not ask for much outside work. We had 7 novels to read during the semester and for some of them we were not required to read the entire thing. Make sure you read, because she asks direct questions regarding the text! If no there are no volunteers, she will pick people at random. You are given participation points, and you will lose points if you don't have the book, don't know the answer, or didn't read (among other things). There was also one essay at the end of the semester addressing one of her themes for the class. Her tests vary between multiple choice, short answer, and essay. She will let you know in advance what to expect (format-wise), and (exactly) what to know for it. Make sure you attend class every day because she does not necessarily tell you this information the class before the test. If you are looking for an interesting class that requires some reading, I highly recommend her. HOWEVER, be forewarned that you are expected to be caught up with the syllabus for all your reading material and you will be graded on it.

So real quick: DON'T Take her class. She is picking on how your essays should look and make you feel like the essay wasn't good enough to at least get a grade. Instead, she will write NP on your paper to Revise over and over until it reads perfect to her. Whatever you do, don't pick this woman
