If he is available during the semester you have to take managerial econ, then I highly recommend you choose him! It is worth waking up early if thats the case. He is very effective and uses a lot of examples that only benefit you. There were 9 quizzes and he drops the lowest 2!!! All the quizzes are based on the examples we go over in class.

This professor is great! I was never a fan of economics in high school and when I found out I had to take this course as a business major, I was somewhat disheartened. Vassallo is not only very passionate about economics, but he is very intelligent, has a great sense of humor, and loves to relate economics to the real world and makes it much easier to understand. His class is not very difficult. He gives you 12 quizzes (one every week) which are all open note and open book. He definitely likes to see his students succeed. He doesn't make it too easy though so you have to come to class to understand what is going on. The class before the quiz he goes over sample problems that will be on the quiz. It is pretty self explanatory and basic. And the greatest thing about these quizzes, is that he drops the two lowest quiz grades at the end of the semester. There is no mid-term and no final (although the last quiz is held during finals week). There is no extra credit but in reality, if you show up to class, then there is no need for extra credit and you can easily get an A. I decided towards the end of the semester that I could skip his class once or twice and I still did well. If you're not really into economics but you're required to take it as a business major, I would definitely take Vassallo. He gives you a great understanding on economics but doesn't expect you to know all by the end of the semester. He completely understands that not everyone is into economics like him. He is simply a great guy and I thought he did very well for his first semester at Shippensburg!!!

There are no exams in this class! He also teaches Managerial Econ with the same setup. You have 12 exams (one every week)and that makes up your grade. There are 3 questions on each quiz and the class before the quiz each week you do the same type of problems on the board and then can use your notes for the quiz. I will say that he can be a bit boring because he goes on tangents about stuff that doesn't have anything to do with the class but most of his stories are for the most part entertaining. And he doesn't take attendance. He doesn't care if you go to class. And you really don't need to go to pass the course because most of the class he gets off subject anyway. Just make sure you go to EVERY review day before the quiz. It seriously helps. But obviously if you are one that goes to class every day that wins you brownie points. He also uploads all his slides to D2l so no notes either!! He understands that almost everyone in that class is there because its a gen ed. He knows what its like to be a student with a lot of homework and classes so he takes it easy on you. Take him!!!

Where to start with this professor.. your grades for the class consist of 12 quizzes which aren't too bad. He teaches 4 times a week and the friday class I never went to. Also he drops the 2 lowest grades. If you have an A after 10 quizzes you don't even need to come to class the last 2 weeks. No attendance policy. He also goes off on tangents during class about gambling, drinking, and just crazy stories. Overall I didn't retain that much information but the class was real easy. By the way its mostly a math class with algebra and some calculus so if you aren't strong in math I would advise not taking this class with him.

You are allowed to use your book and notes on the test. But you do not use the book at all. The quizzes are exactly like the problems he teaches you in class. There is no midterm and final. You grade is based off of a quiz that you take each week. He drops your lowest two quizzes. He teaches you exactly what you need to know for the quiz in the class before.
