Dr Dibello is an amazing teacher! She engages her students, but doesn't take crap or excuses from anyone. You need to do your assignments and put forth an effort. The class is 7 papers and a "daily work" grade. That grade is composed of quizzes that are given on the readings, attendance, and participation. The class always has difference topic and themes each semester, but my topic was addiction and I even kept the books because I enjoy reading them. The books were easy to read and we reviewed the material the next day. She is a great teacher to take!

Dibello is a good professor who really really wants people to like English class and understand the material. She had a few papers on the theme of that semester which was addiction, which were easy to write (if you're average at writing). She went over grammar, of course, and she really pushed for people to remember it because plenty of people forgot grammatical rules from high school (myself included). The books were easy reads which was nice, and she really teaches well in general. She's nice and patient, although sometimes you're not sure if she's making fun of you, lol. Basically, she is an easy professor, who really teaches well. I would strongly recommend taking her.

Dr Dibello is a great teacher. I could tell she really enjoyed her work when she held discussions of the stories we read. Even though she kind of looks like the brunette from "Three's Company" and therefore could not get the theme song out of my head every class, I still found time to appreciate some great pieces of literature.

Dibello was a bit stand off-ish to kids in the class at times. She seemed to favor the guys, but if you give her a chance to come around, you definitely won't regret it. She was really helpful and seemed to genuinely care about her students and the subject matter. There are 4 papers (including a research paper), a presentation, a final exam essay, and she also grades on participation/attendance.

Dibello is a really nice professor. Sometimes her classes felt a bit high school: she summarized each text so well during lectures/discussions that I hardly even bothered to read anything. But she does teach effectively and I felt I learned a lot through her class. Her tests aren't too hard; as long as you write a polished essay you'll do fine on them.

Listen, I am a guy. I took her women's literature class. I was one of 3 guys, and I think the only straight one. It's true, she does play favorites, but thats only bc her 'favorites' are pretty smart. And, yes, I am a guy, and I know nothing about women's lit. She loved me. I tried to do the readings, and even raised my hand a few times. I was in a room full of men hating feminists...and it was kinda funny. I had to voice my opinion on a few matters a few times, and show the girls that killing your husband is not cool. Anyway, I recommend Dibello...good luck. -_o_-

Dr. Dibello's intro to lit class was the first english class that I took and actually enjoyed. She doesn't ask a lot of you. You basically read short stories that are no more than 15 pages at the most. With the story she might ask you to write a paragraph or she might give you a small quiz. In my class we wrote one paper and read one novel. I definitely would recommend her!

This was by far the most interesting class I had encountered this past semester! Dr. Dibello is a very funny and nice teacher, who encourages the class to get the most out of their reading! The whole class seemed to love to participate, which made things even more educational, because everyone had different points of view for each story we read, thus we were also able to learn from each other.(This helps in interpretation of the stories). There are 3 stories a week to read, which we were either quized on, or had to write on. There is only 1 paper to do, and I have to say it was an interesting story chosen to write on. Finally, there are only 2 exams, a mid-term and final. Take this course with this professor if you can!

Dr. Dibella is a great prof. She goes over everything and you always know what is going on if you pay attention. As long as you do your work you are good. People said how she has favorites, and you can tell that she does but as long as you participate and pay attention you are one of them. Also be prepared to hear her opinion, if you can't handle it grow up. She is real and so are we, can't help it if some people are spoiled and don't think that if it's not what they want to hear it's not good. She awesome, take her if you can.

I LOVE Dr. Dibello! She is the sweetest woman I have ever met. She has never put anyone down in my class. She loves to joke around and laugh with you. Even when you have no clue about the answer when she calls on you, she understands. I have never seen her in a bad mood, and she's even fun to talk to about stuff other than English. She is very approachable about ANYTHING. I can't believe anyone would EVER say anything bad about this woman! I LOVE her!!! I am going to take her for as many classes as I can in the future.

I just read the negative comments about dr.dibello with chagrin. All one has to do in order to do well in her class is to read the assignments, show up for class and participate. You will be surprised the effect this small amount of input will do for your own well being. The whining about picking favorites and boys is ridiculous...face it, there isn't an abundance of male Eng. majors, so it's probably somewhat refreshing having a different viewpoint in the class discussion...trust me, she is one of the finest Eng. professors at Shippensburg...you'll learn a lot if you just try...

Dr. Dibello is an amazing woman. She really is. All this talk about gender favoritism is crap. She just enjoys calling on all of the lazy chodes that do not read the stories and do not have a clue of what is going on. Pay attention, read the stories, and you will have a "A". It is an incredibly easy class, but it is enjoyable and easy which makes it even better. I highly recommend Dr. Dibello.

Dr. Dibello is a really wonderful prof. She is a very nice lady. She seems a little old-fashioned, but definitely knows what she's talking about and knows how to teach others. Attendance is pretty mandatory; she takes attendance each class and it's kinda hard to catch up for the final if you miss too many classes. All you do in the class is read a whole bunch of short stories and 2 novels, neither of which are that difficult. You take some quizzes on the stories, write discussion questions and write about symbolism and stuff. She grades pretty easily for the most part, but you have to read b/c the quizzes can be a little tricky. You write one paper on the novel you read. She does a pretty nice job of helping you prepare for the paper. The only drawback is that she doesn't give too much feedback on your papers and stuff. I'm sure that if you went to her after class or whenever, she'd be happy to explain things more fully to you. She seems very willing to help you whenever she can; she gives lots of suggestions about where to get help if you need it. Take Dr. Dibello if you can!!! She's a really nice lady and her class is pretty interesting!

Dr. DiBello made this challenging class a lot of fun. We read books by Toni Morrison, and after a while it got to be tiresome since you read nothing but. The class was simple to follow: read books, do a presentation, and participate. There are no tests in the class, and the final was open book. The easiet way to view any of Dr. DiBello's classes is like a game show. She will quiz you over certain parts of the text for the most part. Attendence is also important.

Dr. Dibello's courses are relatively manageable. If you take your time and take pleasure in reading quite frequently then you will enjoy her class, but be prepared for discussions. Though Dr. Dibello's courses may be mediocre, her personality is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. She tells students to drop their majors, she frequently picks favorites, and she gives dirty looks and you can just tell if she likes you or not. She seems fun in class, but if you even get on her bad side then say goodbye to your grade or your pride. Dr. Dibello will be rude to you, through email or via meeting in person.
-Decent class, not too hard.
-Would never take her again, terrible Professor.
-She needs to learn how to TEACH instead of immediately humiliating students.

I did well in her class. Her quizzes were not very hard and if you do the readings and actually answer questions, you're bound to get a good grade. However, I found her to be very judgmental. She nit-picks over everything in the essays that you write and she seems to favor the men more than the women. I normally got 2-3 people editing my paper, including the writing center, and I still ended up with a B in her class. She's also emotionally mean to you. She'll downright insult your writing or laugh at you if you don't know an answer. She can be very cruel.

the class material was not that bad, actually i found it quite interesting. another thing that i found intersting was how dibello divided the class into 3 categories. the first being her favorite students who always received an automatic A, the others who she didn't feel strongly about either way who received B's, and then other good students such as myself who unfairly received C's. my advice to the English Board would be to have her grade papers with a number on top, instead of the students names, this way you may actually receive a grade based on your ability, and not on her preference to you. guys-she'll love you, easy A girls-good luck!!!!

Dibello was an okay professor, with some strong positives as well as negatives. A lot of the comments here mention favoritism and it's 100% correct. In my class there were about 3 students she absolutely loved to the point where it was getting a bit strange. Another major annoyance was the class itself, instead of giving you an opportunity to raise your hand to answer a question in the discussion, she would randomly call on someone without waiting for any volunteers, which was incredibly stressful and I felt like I had to be ready for every single question or I'd look like a dummy. As for the good, the books weren't too bad, the reading could get a bit heavy but it wasn't a problem since most of the time the books were interesting. Also she let us out at least 15 minutes early everyday which would have been great unless you have another class right after this one.

I thought Dibello did an okay job teaching this class. Overall I liked it but the theme was interesting so I have a feeling that made the class more bearable. We read three novels and a few short stories. Reading assignments were sometimes followed by short ten questions quizzes. While we were reading, we wrote a few papers dealing with what the books were talking about. We were supposed to use examples to back up arguments so no outside research was really needed. After reading the books, we did a research paper along with a group project. And then the final common essay which you get to make an outline for ahead of time. The assignments she gives are graded kind of hard so ask for help if you don't understand something. She showed some obvious favoritism which was sort of annoying but she was pretty nice most of the time.

Nice teacher but very subjective in her grading. Mainly, the participation (20%) was the subjective part, because it morphed into how sophisticated your answers were as opposed to how frequent and consistent your participation was, or if you displayed extra effort to seek her out during office hours. All that extra effort and consistency was washed out by others who could word things better on the spot. It was interesting and a good class just be forewarned that if you are in an “unusually stellar” class your grade will suffer. My Advice: don’t take her if you need a certain GPA because her grading does not follow a strict criteria and is very subjective, which is probably why there are negative comments at all because it leaves the grade up to the students' speculation. All in all she seemed very nice with the occasional harsh comments which coming from her usually just got a laugh out of the class. I don't think she intends to be offensive but sometimes her word choice is questionable. All in all I enjoyed the class.

Women's Lit sounds boring but DiBello tried to make it interesting, except how the entire class revolved around reading about women on their periods. I liked the class the first half of the semester but then the readings all sounded the same. She definitley calls on the same three people the entire class. If you are a male and an idiot, take her, she will think you are the best thing since sliced bread. Overall the class was tolerable.
