Take this class. The way Ensley teaches it makes it easy to learn. The tests are relatively easy and he's pretty funny. He keeps cursing at random moments which is just something I find funny. The Math Labs are kind of stupid. They're easy, but kind of pointless. Anyway, good teacher, easy class, take it.

Dr. Ensley is a pretty good professor. He definitely knows what he's talking about and is extremely nice. He's pretty much always in his office and is always willing to help if you don't understand something. Although I have to admit, sometimes when you go to see him he acts like he can't be bothered to help. Either way, Dr. Ensley is a good professor and you certainly learn a lot from him.

Dr. Ensley is the best math professor at Ship. He is really good at teaching and he is very funny. He teaches you how to do things on the calculator and then expects you to use it. He drops your 3 lowest homework grades, 2 lowest quizzes, and he counts your final twice if you do better on it than an earlier exam. He is always available and he can really teach! Take him if you can!

Ensley is the sh*t. He is great at explaining things which makes the class easy. There are online homeworks that may as well count as bonus points, like 5 easy questions. Three tests, maybe seven quizzes (drops lowest 2) and a final. 90 and up is an A so the system isn't tough. Do yourself a favor and take Ensley.

I had never had Calculus before I took this class. I ended up with over 100% in it. Dr. Ensley is really good at explaining math and heís at his office hours so you can always stop by to ask questions. He gives you a lot of practice which helps you prepare for his tests. Do his test reviews since most of those problems end up on his tests. He is also very good at responding to emails so you can email him questions about problems even if itís the day before a test.

Professor Ensley was a very effective teacher for me personally. The material may be hard, but he goes over like someone reading "Calculus for Dummies." His tests aren't bad at all if: 1)you show up pay attention in class and 2)study his practice test(just like the test itself). The online homework is a grade booster as long as you do it. I advise everyone to take him.

Dr. Ensley is all about his students, he is willing to do anything to help people understand the material and do good on homework quizzes and tests. At the end of the course he really helps out and usually gives people extra points for the homework and effort points if he feels you improved from the previous tests. He's really nice, definitely take him!

Dr. Ensley's class might seem boring to people, but that's because he makes it seem SO easy. Seriously, I heard people w/ other discrete professors saying it was hard, and yet he teaches the same material and makes it seem so simple. He's fun and will help you in any way he can. Also, if you get the material, you can miss classes without fearing for your grade. Seriously, the tests are exactly what he says they will be. Take him!!

This prof was one of the best Ive ever had. His classes are very descriptive and he always makes sure everyone understands. If you don't understand what he is going over you just ask and he will explain it until you do. He tries to keep his lesson plans interesting and includes alot of group work, and interactive projects. He makes all of his assignments easy to get a good grade on and is always available for help after class. If youre looking for a good prof who will help you with anything and who makes the classes as interesting as possible, look no farther...

He taught by powerpoints and book problems. He gets the points across very well but to really get the most out of his teaching, its a lot better to do problems on your own so you know what hes talking about. The only real bad part is that sometimes he rambles on and on which sometimes gets boring. Overall hes a good prof. I'd say. I learned a lot.

Although the material wasn't that difficult, perhaps some credit has to be given to the professor as well for such an easy class. Ensley explains the topics thoroughly and supplements them with fun flash computer activities. The weekly quizes are open note so if you go to class and take notes, you are sure to get 9/10 or above on all them -- not to mention he drops the lowest two! The three tests increase in difficulty, and the final was rather challenging, but definitely fair and do-able. Lastly, he's an extremely nice guy and enjoys teaching -- perhaps the most overlooked, yet most important, aspect of any professor.

Dr. Ensley is a nice guy, as was mentioned in many of the other reviews. He does tend to "teach over students heads" but will go over the material as many times as necessary for someone to understand. I think he is very intelligent, and, were I in his place I would have a hard time teaching an easy course like Math for Liberal Studies (which was even below me...math dyslexic that I am)...TAKE ENSLEY IF YOU CAN...

I started out the semester as Comp Sci major but switched in less than 2 weeks; making this class pointless towards my major. I enjoyed Dr. Ensley's class alot so I didn't drop/switch into another math class. We have an open note quiz once a week. The questions come straight from ones we did in class. He never checks the homework but is always around if you need help with ANY math. Dr. Ensley doesn't really care if you show up to class as long as you do well on the tests and quizzes. There have been times I went to one class the whole week but went to the SI session and learned everything in a half hour. He has a great sense of humor and makes as many jokes as he can in order to keep your attention. I suggest this teacher for Discrete Math and I imagine he would be good for any other Math course as well.

This guy is great. His class was really easy because all we did was take notes on things we learned in 8th grade math classes then took a couple of quizzes and wrote a few one page papers. He also had an online portion with a quiz that you could take as many times as you want to help your grade. I dont know how he would be for a higher level math class but he was pretty laid back with us.

He's so nice and really, really smart, which is the problem. I think it was hard for him to come down to my level and I think he went too fast. Math idiots like me just don't get it. I had to drop the class - I know he would have moved heaven and earth to help me but it just wasn't worth it.

Dr. Ensley is an awesome professor. You just kinda have to get him off topic, and then class is a breeze. It helps to have taken calc. in high school, but he teaches it in a relatively easy manner that even I understood(for the second time no matter how hard i tried to not pay attention.) You should really look into having him as a professor!

Dr. Ensley was such a nice guy. I wish i would have gone to class more often. I even dropped his class and I sitll thought highly of the profesor. The only thing is he is very boring sometimes. Just make sure you stay awake and pay attention in class. I just didn't understand the material and that is why i had to drop the class. If i could have the teacher in a different course I would probably take him again.

This prof is an excellent example of what you expect from your instructor. He is funny and gives minimal homework. The content is challenging, but he is willing to work with you anytime he's not teaching. He also gives some extra credit stuff so be sure to take advantage of that. Overall, I learned alot and it wasn't even painful.

This professor is a very good instructor. He does move quickly which makes showing up for class mandatory. If you don't pay attention or go to class, your grade will suffer. He's not an easy prof, but he keeps class light and intersting. If you take him, you'll enjoy the class, but be ready to work.

he wrote his own book, though it doesn't help much by itself. you need to go to the classes, and all the quizes are questions from previous homeworks that he has gone over ... so it's pretty hard to do badly on them. over all, he had to be one of the best prof's i've had.

This class was awful! It was so easy that it was pitiful. Class is incredibly boring... I have to do something else to keep myself awake. We moved at a really, really slow pace that it was pathetic. Everything is so easy but too boring to be worth it. Take someone else!

Dr. Ensley is a nice guy but I do not learn well in his type of class. You barely take any notes in the class and you're lucky if he does one example problem. He seems a bit unorganized in the sense that he jumps around from subject to subject and talks about math aspects that aren't relative to the class. Overall nice guy but if you're the type of person, like me, that needs examples and practice in class to succeed, then don't take his class.

I liked Dr. Ensley's class. The only part I didnt like about it was that he didnt really give a lot of examples. He explained how to do it and gave some in class practice, but I wish he would have demonstrated more on how to do the problems. He is a great teacher though. He gives blackboard "quiz" assignments. You have to complete 7-10 problems online each week. You have many tries to get a 100% on them. Then each week you have a in-class quiz. The online quiz and in-class quiz are added together each week to give a final quiz score. The tests are hard, so study a lot for them! Good teacher, but tough material is the best way to sum it up, but I still recommend him.
