Subject: What are you all talking about...  (Jan 16 2012, 05:07AM)

For those of you who are saying that this class was horrible...what ARE you talking about? This was just about the easiest class I've ever taken at Shippensburg. Sure, the powerpoints are sometimes a little tedious, but a) you don't have to take notes ever because it's all online, b) her study guides ARE the tests, c) she never has any trick questions, d) the tests are EASY, and e) the projects are a piece of cake. Nobody listen to these other negative comments, Prof. Evans is a really sweet and wonderful teacher!

Evans is a little crazy, but she's good, people. She knows her stuff and is willing to help you out. As long as you kind of care about her class, you'll be fine.

Okay, so Professor Evans is the most eccentric, bitter professor I have so far. Really, this class is not only easy but it's also boring! There's no tests or quizzes, she just dully reads the powerpoints word for word, doesn't know how to use YouTube, and acts like she's going to break out a gun and shoot us all if we don't participate in the discussions. Honestly, if you need to take this class, avoid this woman at all costs!

Professor Evans seems to know what she's talking about by the work she's done, but she has no way of communicating that to her students. She goes on and on about things that are common sense and then tests on things she didn't mention. The book was pretty pointless and didn't help at all. She gives out multiple plays for you to read and tests you on who directed it and who played which character, which is impossible. You'll do okay if you can BS, otherwise, don't bother. She was entertaining because she couldn't work a computer, but she was rude when she couldn't answer a question about the final project. Try to get on her good side and practice your BS skills or just take another professor.

Subject: I learned nothing  (Nov 01 2010, 06:44AM)

Literally, I learned nothing. She stood in front of us, read EXACTLY what was on the powerpoints off to us in a very quiet and slow and boring voice. She never knew how to use the computer to show us youtube videos. Her "quizzes" at the beginning of every class were one question picked out of like 30 pages of material and it was usually something little that I would never remember. You can argue points with her but it is like arguing with a child because her idea of a class is to show us videos and tell us how they are stereotypical or racist or something. I think she is a total space cadet and I don't know how she is teaching here. My advice is, DON'T TAKE HER.

Subject: Rejoiced at the end...  (Dec 22 2006, 07:52AM)

The course is five photo assignments, two small essays, three quizzes and one/two tests. Make sure you study for the quizzes and tests, and study well. They are ridiculous. As for Evans, she is a woman in dire need of an attitude adjustment. If she doesn't like you right off the bat, then she never will. She doesn't smile and when you ask her a question, she makes you feel as though you are wasting her "valuable" time. She gives the impression that she cares about her students, but she doesn't. She'll show up late (but will yell if you show up late) and if you want input about a print, she may yell at you if you walk into the lab and tell you to wait. All in all, she is one of the worst professors I have ever had. When the semester ends, be sure to rejoice. I know I did.

A very rude and bitter person. I learned little to nothing about photography, which sucks, cause I was kind of interested in it before I had the displeasure of taking her class. If you can find it, get on her good side. The assignments are easy enough, but her tests are ridiculous. She expects you to know any and everything about photography, just because she's been a "professional" in the field since the camera was invented. If you can, take Drager's summer course instead. If not, good luck to ya.

Evans is a horrible prof. Her notes have so much information in them you dont know where to start studying. Her so called "quizzes" are like 7 page tests. Altogether she just sucks... When she lectures she talks about all of this stuff that you are just supposed to understand because she does. Dont take this unless you want to deal with her.

Overall, Evans is a very nice lady and will do anything to help you and the drop of a hat when you have a question. However, I can definitely see how Evans gives off a 'mean' quality sometimes. If you listen to what she specifically tells you NOT to do, she usually likes you better. She's very OCD about things and if you repeatedly fail to pay attention to what not to do you're going to piss her off. The power-points are boring, but you don't have to take notes because she puts them up online. She also gives you study guides for exams. Some of the notes/concepts can be confusing and Evans apparently, is also somewhat confused by the material herself at moments. The exams aren't too hard, but it's a lot of multiple choice that sucks - as in answers like A, B, C, Choice A and B, All of the above, and None of the above. Gag. :/ I'm not really sure if I learned quite what I wanted to learn from the class, but I do feel I learned something, which is a vast improvement from some of my other classes. It does feel like she grades a bit hard for as unsure as she seems about her own material at times.

I think that professor evans is good and bad. She puts off this air that she is snobby and doesnt like her students, but once she knows your name and starts to see more of you, she actually smiles and seems nicer. She knows what she is doing with photography, but after doing the same print 20 times just to make it 1 second lighter, she started to get aggravating! I still think she is a little snobbish sometimes, but she is okay I guess. She can be a b*tch though, watch out! And even if you think you do good work, she doesnt always think so....

This class is rather boring...she only lectures, then gives difficult take-home test. This teaching style does nothing for me. But if oyu get to know her, Evans is actually an interesting person...its just hard to get to know her!!!
