This guy is probably the best professor I've ever had, which is unfortunate seeing as how he isn't in my major's department. Very laid back, fun, entertaining, and treats you as an equal. I was worried about this class because I can't read music and I've never been in band, but it's fairly easy and interesting! Have had a blast with him!

Professor Famulare is very good at the intro to music course. You have a couple quizzes, 3 concert attendances that you pick, 3 exams and the final. All his exams are multiple choice and the listening part just sucks, but he gives you a study guide with basically the exam questions, study that and the listening and you'll be fine. He also offers extra credit opportunities.

Prof. Famulare is an amazing professor. His lectures are kind of dry, but he throws in his witty humor and it makes you laugh. He puts his lectures on powerpoint that you can print out before you go to class, which is very helpful so you don't have to take a crapload of notes. His tests are very easy. He usually gives you a study guide which is exactly the questions on the test. Good teacher..I suggest taking him.

So I took Fam for intro to music, and I loved the class. It was so much fun. Sure the listening part was boring, but he has his ways to make it fun. I would love to take his class again. Take his class if u can.

He is a fantastic professor! The class consisted of a lot of notes (which you could print out and had everything on) and the listening exercises. Although listening could be a pain, he played them a lot. Before every exam (which were of average difficulty)he would give a review sheet where EVERYTHING we needed to know was on it. He even included half the questions from the test. If you pay attention, listen to the songs, and study, you'll do fine. He's funny and really knows his stuff. He genuinely wants his students to do well. He offers extra credit like bringing in cds you like and going to extra performances (some are required to attend). Really, his class is well worth the general education requirement!

Famulare gives lots of bonus points. Lectures are kind of blah - but he puts the notes on the projector to help out -- Tests are sort of hard - all MC and listening. -- Bonus really helps out..

This is my second time reviewing Fam, and I have to say my feelings haven't really changed. I know others have had problems with him, but he's always been a pretty good guy to me. I can't really speak for him as a professor of music in a classroom setting, but if you are a musician looking to get involved with one of his performance groups on campus, I suggest you do.

I really enjoyed Prof. Famulare, he made the class fun, we would laugh a lot. You really learn alot and you find that some of the music you actually enjoy. I found that I really enjoy Mozart. The tests can be hard if youre not prepared. Make sure you really listen to the music outside of class, it's on tests and quizzes. The test is about 30 Multiple Choice and 10 or 20 listening. All the notes are on powerpoint and before class you can print them off. Lots of chances for Bonus points!!!!!! TAKE HIM, YOU'LL ENJOY IT.

I had Fam for both marching band and jazz band, never for an actual class. He is a good guy who enjoys working with the students. He also has a great knowledge of music, and a wonderful sense of humor. Fam is truly an all-around enjoyable professor.

Dr. Famulare was an awesome professor! He made class fun and I actually enjoyed going to his class. He used powerpoint for all of his lectures which made taking notes a lot easier. He gives tons of extra credit! It is so easy to get an A in his class. His tests are very easy. He gives you review packets before every test, which help a lot. You have to go to concerts as part of your grade, but they arent that bad at all. He makes class fun and is by far one of the best professors that I have had at Ship. My advice is to take him!

Famulare is a really great prof. His class was my favorite of the semester. He does power point presentations (which is always a good thing) and offers a bunch of extra credit. Also..not many professors will let you take the final exam when you come in an hour late. He's just a great guy

the tests that people have been complaining about are so easy. he takes the questions directly from the study guide that he gives. so if you memorize the study guide, you wont get less than a B+ guaranteed. you need to go to 3 concerts, but thats not a big deal. if you have the chance, take him!

Fam is a great prof. marching band has been the best this year. It's not really hard as long as you come to practice and games like your supposed to, and put a little bit of effort into it you'll get an A it's not hard at all. I recommend him deffinately!

He really did a great job teaching this class. I know a lot of people really don't like taking music classes, but seeing as how it's a gen ed, it's usually difficult to skip. It was really easy to do well in the class because he gives you every opportunity to do so, especially with extra credit. All you have to do is go to a few concerts. The test and quizzes weren't too bad and the more you go to class the better you will do. TAKE HIM!!

This class was ridiculously hard for a gen ed.I just got thrown in as a first semester freshman and had no choice to have this guy.He looks down on his students as if he's so much better than they are, unless they are in band.He also expects alot out of his students for tests and sometimes likes to have pop quizes. My advice:Don't take him.

Overall, his class wasn't too difficult. You had to listen and decipher sounds and tracks from cd's.. that's probably the hardest part. Test questions came primarily from study guides he handed out prior to the test. You also have to attend concerts. The real problem I had with this class is HIM. [] He walks around like he's better than everyone else. If you can deal with a person that looks down on everyone else and walks around like their sh!t doesn't stink, then take him. I would've rather had someone else.

avoid him at all costs. i thought he was a decent guy, but once you get to know him, you see the truth. he doesn't think it's important for you to get an education unless you're taking his class. his class was horrible that i had to drop it and take it with another prof. avoid this guy at all costs

Professor Famulare is the worst excuse of a teacher. He is ego-centric and all he cares about is himself rather than education. He drove away the best drum instructors Ship has ever had. Didn''t even try to work with them.

He was a really awesome teacher. He really relates to his students. Reminds me a lot of John Stewart. The class itself was a really difficult gen. ed, especially for me, as a second semester freshman. I'd recommend taking this only if you're very interested in music and its history.

He's a good guy, puts everything online in powerpoints, but to take this class AND do well, you need some music background. I didn't have any. He doesn't put much effort into helping those who are confused because there's no time for questions in class. The class isn't really even an Introduction. There's a lot more information than you would think; its not just listening to music the entire time and it certainly isn't easy. I say take the class if you have some music background, but its a horrible Gen Ed. He's a nice guy, but its a horrible class.

I don't really know about any other music profs here but this guy isn't all that great. Class never lets out early. You have to read the book and listen to the cd's a lot to do good. You always have to go to 3 concerts outside of class. And class is never ever cancelled. I think this guy is just barely above average.
