Feeny is a really nice woman. She is very genuine and down to earth. She realizes that her class is not the only one you are taking and isn't psycho about turning things in on time. We had assignments that were supposed to be turned in by our exams and I had a huge week and turned an assignment in after the exam and she didn't take any points off. If you let her know in advance that you will miss class she usually is understanding. She realizes that people are not perfect and is extremely understanding! TAKE HER IF YOU CAN!

Honestly, if I didn't take this course at 8AM, I would have easily gotten an A. No Doubt. She is the nicest person here at Ship. She gives easy points once every week. Her tests are straight from the notes. Only bad part is that there are only 2 tests. She rarely misses class but most of the time, you'll get out of class 5-20 minutes early. She also is willing to help you whenever you need it. She offers incredible amounts of extra credit. Basically take her!

Feeny is a great teacher..she knows what she's doing. The tests are stuff you have to study for, but she has her notes on Blackboard so it's easy to follow along in class. She has notebook checks which boost your grade if you aren't good on tests. Plus, she accepts any type of extra credit and is very lenient. And she has a lot of experience. She's a great teacher and if you have to take Geography you should take her

OMG, I just got done reading Dr. Feeny's negative comments. The woman is an amazing person, she is very bright and exceptionally caring. She does her notes on PowerPoint and her tests and on the front cover part of the book chapters. She makes having to take a Geography course fun. She will go out of her way to help you understand. She gives a ton of extra credit too, I failed my first exam in the 60's and still was able to get an A. If you try in her class and show up (yes, she does take attendence) then there is no reason why you will not do well and have a great time. If you have a problem with reading a little and studying some maybe you're not quite ready for college gen-eds.

She is a great teacher. She's just an all around nice person. She really cares about students and she doesnt make it hard for you to do well. Attendance isn't mandatory but it helps to come because the movies she plays and handouts she gives will help on the tests. The only downside would be that there are few tests so you need to study to do well. The online notes will help a ton though with the studying. You hardly need anything from the book except maybe the bold terms. All of her questions are from the notes and in class movies or handouts. If you have the opportunity, definitely take her. She makes a boring subject interesting.

This woman is great. Her workload is easy, her classes let out early most of the time and though the material is boring she tries her best to make it exciting. There is always a video to be seen or a game to be played in her class. Her grading system is fairly easy and she can always be persuaded if there is a question of difficulty. A squeaky voice and a great attitude, this teacher is one you wouldn't want to miss.

Prof. Feeney was sooooo easy. Since my class was made up of all elementary ed majors she gave us projects creating board games and she even cancelled a class so we could knit! She didn't take attendence and gave us four tests, but she always gave us extra points on the tests. You can attend events on campus and write a reflection for extra credit. This class was so easy and she is so nice. I got over a 100% and I didn't even really study at all. Take this class for an easy A!

Dr. Feeney was so much fun! She had the Luhr's kids come over one day and had them teach us how to knit! This is an extremely easy class and she has all of her notes online (as well as grades) Awesome teacher, i highly recommend her! (the final was a little tricky, so make sure you study! :-P)

She uses powerpoint for all her notes so you know exactly what to write down. She gives quite a few tests and her final is pretty hard. She does not give any homework and she cancels class a lot. All in all she's a good prof. I would recommend her if you're taking geography.

I really liked her. She does powerpoint presentations, so it's easy to copy the notes. You label maps in class. Her tests come mostly from the notes and they are usually only 25 questions. She offers 40 points extra credit for going to the "Art of Being's" on campus. I learned a lot in the class, and enjoyed being there. I would def recommend taking her!

Take her if you can. The class was easy and I learned a lot of interesting stuff. Her tests and quizzes are pretty easy if you do the readings. It seemed like as long as you tried the assignments, she gave a good grade.

SHE IS AWESOME she rarely ever comes to class, ends early, never gives homework, lectures alot but it is interesting. She is pretty young and tries to relate to her students. She gives a 25 pt. quiz after covering each topic and they aren't (mostly multiple choice)no major projects- and you need to take her if you get the chance to

Dr. Feeney is the worst professor that I've had here at Ship. [] She cannot teach to save her life. GIS 1 is challenging, but not overwhelmingly difficult, but she made it so incredibly hard to learn by not teaching a damn thing in class. In GIS, reading the book only helps so much; you need to do tutorials & LOTS of hands on work to really grasp it. Not only did her lectures serve absolutely no educational purpose or hold any value, but she didn't teach us any skills with the program during class. At the half way point of the semester, we still had not made one map in class, & she hadn't shown us how to do anything in ArcMap. She only gives handouts that are due every class, but the instructions are usually incorrect, or completely indecipherable...I've never met someone who needed to use Spellcheck more than her. Her quizzes, which she gave every week or so, had nothing to do with her lectures, and contained so many typos, it was hard to know what she was talking about in the first place. Additionally, when emailing her for help, she'd give short, rude replies, rather than actually answer questions or help you solve your problem. Overall, if you need to take her for a majors course, don't. I've learned absolutely nothing of value, & have only gotten stressed & frustrated by her class, her lack of professionalism & her poor attitude.

I had Dr. Feeney for geography over the winter semester online, so there was absolutely no personal interaction, which I'm sure would have made me less critical. First of all, she either cannot spell or does not feel the need to double check her spelling. Throughout the semester there were even a few exam questions with words that she must have invented. Here is a direct quote:"...firt the thrib." Second, many of the exam questions were on material that we DID NOT COVER. Perhaps during the semester she elaborates on her powerpoint presentations, but it seemed to me that she often tested on material she did not realize we were not taught. Example: "Draw a sketch of where you would find NW1/4 of section 7, T3N, R3W." Nowhere did she mention this notation system. Third, she likes to travel and has been everywhere, and this seems to be her main concern. The majority of powerpoints are presentations of her travel, and her personal interests are very clearly favored. I felt cheated to spend an hour of my life reading a powerpoint about Musk Ox ecology and preservation. This is a geography class, please stick to the material. Also, her notes often consisted purely of photographs of the plaques explaining museum displays. I do not doubt that she is a nice person, or that she is knowledgeable about geography, but if I am spending my time and money to learn from someone, I expect them to at least run spell check on the EXAM questions!

This woman definitely knows her stuff. She knows every little fact about every place in the universe. BUT she couldnt teach if her life depended on it. She's really nice, but she is never clear on what she wants you to know. You cant even figure out from the syllabus what you're supposed to be reading in the book. Her tests are ridiculous and you would never expect any of the questions to have been on there, so you've basically studied the wrong stuff. Her power points online dont help, i dont even think she knows what she wants you to learn. She skips out on class a lot, but it isnt worth it when almost everyone in the class has a D or C.

Feeny is a nice woman. She sometimes gets a little excited about a trip she just took, and might go off on a tangent about the geographical features of wherever it was she spent her weekend (pictures included,) but otherwise, she's pretty easy to get along with. Her classes are a tad boring, since she typically just goes over powerpoint notes, all of which are posted online anyway. She's not interactive at all, meaning this is a class where you basically sit and listen. For that reason, classes are easy, minus the tests. If there's anything that's going to be your downfall in this course, it's the tests. They count for a majority of your grade, and tend to have material you didn't cover in class. Basically, classes are somewhat pointless, and tests tend to be a bit strenuous, so you'll need to study. Otherwise, she's a decent professor. I wouldn't recommend her, but if you get stuck with her, no big deal.

Dr. Feeney was a hard one to figure out--some of her exams/assignments were incredibly easy, for instance we had to make a board game one time. And then some of her exams would ask for the tiniest little details--needless to say, they were really tough. Dr. Feeney seems nice enough--she never really reached out to get to know the class. She hardly knew any of our names by the end of the semester, and I'm not really a fan of that. How can you measure someone's participation if you don't know who they are? So if you want a prof who's easy at times and changes to incredibly difficult without any warning, take Dr. Feeney.

While all of the notes are online in powerpoint form, the tests are quite difficult. They ask for a lot of specific things. The most I ever studied for a test was an hour and a half and I only managed to get a C on it. The final was quite difficult. While she's a good teacher with a great attitude, her class is not the easiest (or most interesting).

Feeney's classes are pretty much pointless to go to most of the time. All of her notes are given to you online in powerpoint form. There are like 5 tests. Yes, they are hard, but even if you don't do great on them somehow you don't get a bad grade overall. She offers alot of extra credit and if you keep some notes from in class she gives you an A plus extra credit on your notebook. It is like being back in elementary school.

Apparently her class structure has changed and now instead of giving all quizes, she gives three tests and three quizes with a huge final. Her questions are sometimes so specific they are ridiculous. I had to study for 3 hours for each test and never got better than 7 wrong out of 75. She does give a LOT of extra credit though and has a nice personality. Don't be fooled if she looks like she doesn't take attendance, she does. I ended up with an A so I can't complain too much, and I believe she grades on a curve.
