Frazier makes sure that the class understands a concept. He also leaves a lot of room for extra credit. He knows his stuff and is great for a Gen Ed professor.

Dr. Fazier is a really nice guy. If you ask him anything, he'll be sure to help you understand it. He's a big fan of using everyday examples to get his point across and seems to know A LOT about gov't and the world today (you can tell he doesn't really care much for Pres. Bush, but he doesn't really dwell on the topic). Be ye not fooled: if you don't study, you will not pass unless you have the memory span unparalleled by that of any other human being on the planet...but...yeah. If you study, you'll be okay. AND DON'T MISS CLASS UNLESS YOU HAVE A WAY OF GETTING THE NOTES. Long story short: take him. He'll tell you stuff you never knew before about gov't.

You may think his class is difficult, but he helps you to put government into perspective by going over daily world events and explaining how they shape government. He's a good guy and I'm pretty sure he curves his classes. Take him if you actually want to learn!

Ok, most of the comments here are fairly accurate in their descriptions of him. Dr. Frazier is a very intelligent guy who seems pretty laid back in his teaching style. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you have his class, you better go. He hands out packets for whatever topic we may be covering and goes through it section by section in great detail. Don't be fooled by this teaching approach because his tests are ungodly hard. The exams (3) are worth progressively more, and involve a mixture of multiple choice and 5 of 8 essays. The essays are extremely difficult as his choice of topic is vague and he expects you to regurgitate much of his class lectures. There are two papers, one on the roots of your political beliefs, 20 pages; and the other on a specific public policy, 15 pages. Extra credit opportunities are provided and I recommend you take them if at all possible. I was one of the lucky ones to get a B on the first exam, most other people got D's or failed it. Don't take the tests lightly, study for them. I gave him a positive comment because, although his class is incredibly hard, he does teach the material well and comes off as a generally nice guy.

Dr. Frazier is a really good guy. He wants you to succeed, and gives plenty of extra credit opportunities to raise your grade. This is a definite plus. There are only three grades in the class; two large exams and a final. No papers, projects, or presentations. This is good because it means there is not much work, bad because the exams are rough and there's not many ways to make it up. Lots of multiple choice questions taken straight from the book and then essays taken from class work. Overall, the class is a little difficult, but Dr. Frazier is willing to help out and wants everyone to do well. He also has a great love for music and plays his cds for us at the end of class.

This class is a lot of work. If you know you're going to have a busy semester, don't take this class. Just write down everything he says and you'll be fine. He only gives one test that is only worth about %10 of your grade. You won't be spending nearly as much time studying as you will be writing papers. As long as you include everything you're supposed to on his papers, you'll be fine. He isn't too picky about word choice, sentence flow... and all of that stuff that English majors have to watch out for. =)

Honestly going into the tests I felt like I knew the information, I read the book and did the quizzes and looked over the packets, but his tests are tricky. Definitely read the book because that is where most of the information from the test comes from. I really suggest looking at the quizzes too

The professor may be nice but he doesn't understand college students. After 1/2 the class failed the 1st exam, he went off on the "this isn't high school" speech. It was non-stop lecture and he didn't answer questions. He offered only 3 extra credit opportunities. The last week of class he offered one more extra credit that was a 7-9 page paper on a political issue. This class was incredibly hard. I started out with a A then dropped to a D then I thankfully got it back up to a B. If you want a true wake up call, take him!!

Don't take this professor if you want a 4.0. This is the class: lecture-test-lecture-test, etc. He doesn't break it up at all, there are 4 grades for the class, 3 tests and one quiz, and if you bomb one, you're done for. He really needs to add more grades, and his tests are the worst, they are worded weird and there are too many options for the answers which makes you second guess yourself. Everyone in my class got below 70's on the test, so you decide.

Dr. Frazier is an unavoidable professor if you are a political science major. You will probably have to take him at least twice, because he is the only professor for two of the required courses. Dr. Frazier is a nice guy, but he is an absolutely atrocious professor. His intent is not to help you learn anything, it is to see how much of what he says you can regurgitate on paper. I learned almost nothing that I didn't know prior to taking this class, except that Don Frazier doesn't really like or care about students. Students in my class, along with myself, talked to him about his grading and what he expects and he just giggles at the fact that you really can never do what he wants. When he grades, he gives no feedback so you can't even argue with him if you know you are right. Try not to take him if you can avoid it.

Dr. frazier is def. one of the most confusing profs. I tried to listen, I tried to understand what was coming out of his mouth but it is impossible. It's not that the content of the class is that hard, it's actually stuff we should know, but he goes about teaching it in a way that will put you to sleep. I learned this same stuff better in High School. [] He's really into Governmet stuff & seems to know alot, he just doesn't know how to explain what he's talking about. His tests are incredibly hard, & you waste every class taking notes in packets that are worthless. & the Final hah you might as well not even take it. you could read the book inside & out..& still Fail. Take another Prof. if you want to get a better chance at a good grade let alone pass this class.

Dr. Frazier comes off as such a nice guy...offers tons of extra credit, gets you involved in the lectures, plays music for you. he maps out the course and you wonder why the tests are progressively worth more points as the semester goes on...this is because after you fail that first test (highest grade in my class rocked a 61%) he thinks you are "ready" for the rest of the semester. he is proud to say "if you can handle my classes, you can handle my colleagues'" and i wouldn't be surprised it that was true. great guy, just ridiculously hard on the tests...oh, and he will NOT curve grades no matter how low the scores.

Make no mistake, the man is a good teacher. He's funny, provides packets to take notes in, and plays music in class. BUT BEWARE! You will see an entirely new, sinisterly evil side of this man when you take a test. None of the questions will be taken from notes, but straight from the book. (including such gems as What is the re-election rate of incumbent Representatives? A) 15%, B) 38%, C) 41%, or D) 54%) You literally should not listen to his lectures, as they are irrelevant, test-wise, as proven by the example above. Current action is being taken against him for this by many of his former students. There was not a dry eye in the room when the final exam was distributed. When I say this professor should be fired, I mean it.

If you take this professor be prepared to work very hard. The only way I got a B was because every one in my class had a D or F, and he didn't want to look bad,so he gave us extra credit. I did all the extra credit I could. You have to read a lot. He is kind of hard to understand. He rambles about unimportant issues. He is a nice guy. That is the only thing I liked about his class.

Dr. Frazer is an alright professor. He knows his stuff and you can learn a lot from him if you put forth the effort. His tests are really hard but it makes up for his take home exam and paper. His papers are of reasonable length (10 to 12 pages for the final paper and about 10 to 15 pages for his political thought paper - both double spaced) but his take home exam is really long (at least 25 pages to get a good grade). If you go to his classes and take good notes during his classes u will do well on it. He is a reasonable grader on these papers. Just say that you are a liberal or moderate in order for him to grade you fairly. Don't say that you are a conservative or he will give you a bad grade. Even though he is the only teacher who teaches this course he is the right person to motivate you if you want to major in political science.

Okay. Let me say, first off that I hate all that government and politics stuff. It's not my thing. Frazier didn't exactly make it any easier, but I have to say that he does know what he's talking about. His classes are all lectures and notes which might not be so bad except you really do have to go to class and take all the notes if you want to stand a chance of passing the tests. The tests are very difficult unless you spend every and I do mean every waking minute studying beforehand. The good side to the tests is that for the 2nd one, he let us use a notecard and for the final he let us use 2 notecards and he also gave us 2 bonus essays worth 20 points each. I was actually able to fit all the concepts and 5 essays on the cards, but definitely study anyway. The questions are all multiple choice, but the way it's set up it's inhumane. The 7-9 page papers are not bad if you know what he's looking for. Don't even bother trying to write a real paper. All he wants is facts that come straight from the book with a short explanation for each one. He has a number of facts that he counts for points so if you are unsure of what he's looking for, trust me. Ask him beforehand. I failed the first paper because I didn't know this, but got perfect scores on the rest. The bottom line: He's an effective prof who just wants you to learn something. He just thinks the only way to do it is to give tons of grueling work. Study and do his papers and good luck. This course made my last semester a long one.

Dr. Frazier really knows what he is talking about, but his tests are killer. He knows that they are hard, too, because he allowed us to use "cheat sheet" notecards. The issue papers are annoying as well, seeing as how they are 7-9 page papers and only worth 25 points. Overall, he is very intelligent, but I would avoid him if you can.

I like Dr. Fraizer. But if you have to take gov't and politics look somewhere else becuase his tests are god awful hard. Then when your down in the dumps he makes you do a 7 page single spaced paper about a public policy to pull up your 2nd test grade just 25%. Not worth 25% but when your desprate you have to do it.......

This class wasn't too bad, except for the policy paper which became optional when Prof. Frzier took a leave of absence. His class was ok, and if you have to take him, don't worry about it, it won't be a cakewalk, but it will be tolerable.
